North Melbourne
Inner-city North Melbourne is 2 km north-west from Melbourne’s CBD and has a pleasant community feel.
Noted for its Victorian architecture, eating/shopping, and warehouses and factories, North Melbourne has easy access to CityLink freeway. More upmarket these days, the suburb still retains a working class culture and has a multi-cultural population. 19th century single-fronted homes and modern warehouse/factory conversion townhouses abound but there are still a significant number of larger homes. Students (and consequently investors) love the suburb because of its close proximity to educational institutes and all the activity of the CBD. It has its own shopping and café precinct plus a distinct area of cultural activity.
