Fitzroy North
One of Melbourne’s finest inner-city suburbs, Fitzroy North (4 km north-east of the CBD) may be joined to Fitzroy, but it has a distinct character with less commercial activity, wider quieter leafier streets plus the benefit of the verdant Merri Creek corridor.
It has an eclectic mix of people and housing: most of the suburb is 1- and 2-storey Victorian and Edwardian housing comprising rows of terraces with a mixture of semi-attached and freestanding houses on small to moderately sized blocks, plus there are multi-storey apartment blocks. Large parts of the suburb are protected by heritage controls. The close proximity to the City and the many parks and cafes make Fitzroy North a desirable place to reside.
